How do you feel if your new love interest smokes marijuana regularly? Though cannabis is becoming increasingly more socially acceptable, for many people it can still be a very decisive issue when it comes to finding a new partner. Whether people abstain from marijuana because they feel uncertain about the legality of it or if they have antiquated idea of cannabis itself, many people who abstain from cannabis themselves prefer that their partners do also.
A Match.com survey conducted in 2015 of more than 5,500 singles found that 70% of them believed it would be a turn off if their partners smoked marijuana. 38% of men and 24% of women in the same survey said they would be okay with a partner who smoked cannabis regularly.
OK Cupid, however, found very different statistics when they conducted their own survey. 50% of people in every state but West Virginia, said that they would be okay with a partner who used some form of drugs, including cannabis. The survey also found that career is often the strongest influence on people’s feelings towards their partner using cannabis. People with careers in medicine or law were far less likely to be okay with their partner using cannabis than people in other fields.

People who are involved in the cannabis industry or use marijuana on a regular basis may often find it hard to date in a traditional manner. Some may feel judged by individuals they would like to date when they mention that they smoke marijuana, or people find that there isn't an easy way to have a conversation about their own cannabis usage. As a result, cannabis friendly dating sites have been popping up in recent years to give marijuana consumers the freedom to find love with a partner where cannabis consumption is an accepted part of daily life.
